A warm welcome to students from Zimbabwe
The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is a global leader in public health and infectious disease research. With students, staff, and alumni from over 190 countries, we are proud to have a vibrant community of international students who contribute to our academic excellence and global perspective. This page provides specific information for applicants from Zimbabwe, including entry requirements, programmes on offer, and support available to help you thrive at LSHTM.
LSHTM has long-standing research links with Zimbabwe through The Health Research Unit Zimbabwe (THRU ZIM), formerly the Zimbabwe LSHTM Research Partnership. Embedded within the Biomedical Research and Training Institute in Zimbabwe, THRU ZIM works on public health issues relevant to Zimbabwe and the wider region, combining interdisciplinary research with policy and community engagement.
LSHTM also works with partners in Zimbabwe on adolescent health and wellbeing. Recent work includes Y-Check, a multi-country adolescent health check-up intervention, and the EMPOWA programme, developed with partners including the University of Zimbabwe, BRTI and Zimbabwean ministries to strengthen policy and programming for young people.
Zimbabwe is one of the places where LSHTM’s work is closely connected to local research leadership, policy questions and community health needs. For applicants from Zimbabwe, this creates a direct link between postgraduate study in London and public health challenges being addressed at home.
