A warm welcome to students from Uganda

Tusanyuse okukwaniriza abayizi abava e Uganda!

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is a global leader in public health and infectious disease research. With students, staff, and alumni from over 190 countries, we are proud to have a vibrant community of international students who contribute to our academic excellence and global perspective. This page provides specific information for applicants from Uganda, including entry requirements, programmes on offer, and support available to help you thrive at LSHTM.

LSHTM has a long-standing presence in Uganda through the MRC/UVRI & LSHTM Uganda Research Unit, a major research partnership focused on infectious diseases including HIV, tuberculosis and emerging infections. The Unit brings together the Medical Research Council, the Uganda Virus Research Institute and LSHTM, supporting large-scale epidemiological studies and clinical research.

Through this partnership, LSHTM is actively involved in research, training and capacity strengthening in Uganda, contributing to global understanding of infectious diseases and public health interventions. The Unit also plays a key role in training researchers and supporting the development of public health expertise in the region.

For applicants from Uganda, LSHTM offers the chance to build on a strong local research landscape while connecting with a wider global health community. The close relationship between LSHTM and Uganda also means your studies will be grounded in contexts and challenges that are directly relevant to the region.
