The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is a global leader in public health and infectious disease research. LSHTM has academic links with Irish institutions in areas including public health history, health systems and commercial determinants of health. Our Centre for History in Public Health has worked on research into the history of healthcare in prisons with team members based at University College Dublin and LSHTM.
Ireland’s strong public health and research tradition aligns closely with LSHTM’s mission. We warmly welcome students from Ireland who want to contribute to improving health in the UK, Ireland and globally.

Intercalating students
To enrol in an MSc programme, you'll need the equivalent of a bachelor's degree. This typically means holding having completed the first three years of a medical degree.

Please refer to the programme page to check entry requirements. In general, the table below is intended as a guide for MSc, MRes, PG Dip, PG Cert and research degree programmes.

In some cases, applicants who do not meet the minimum academic criteria but have significant relevant professional experience may still be considered.

English language requirements
Applicants who are nationals of a majority English-speaking country, or who have completed a qualification equivalent to a UK Bachelor's degree taught in one of these countries (per the UKVI’s approved country list), automatically meet our English language requirements.

In-country agents
If you would like additional support with your intensive master's degree application to LSHTM, you can seek guidance from an education agent. While our partner agents do not currently have offices based in Ireland, they might available to support applicants remotely. LSHTM collaborates with a number of trusted agents who are carefully selected and regularly trained by the university.
