Short term accommodation

Short-term can mean anything from one night to 3 months. Below are some of the options available to you:

Hotels in London are pricey but this is a reasonably priced list of hotels located in Bloomsbury (the same area as LSHTM). You can search online for other hotels in London using popular websites such as ExpediaLast Minute or Travelstay but make sure you check the location of the hotel before you book! One hotel company who have a number of hotels in Bloomsbury offering a range of prices is Imperial Hotels. You can also search for hotels near LSHTM using this TripAdvisor link.

Airbnb: rooms in people's houses in various parts of the world including London. Worth looking at as prices are quite reasonable.

Homestay Accommodation: HFS London specialises in arranging accommodation with host families for International students arriving in London. Prices are from £135 per week. HFS London is registered with the British Council.

Doctor in the House: Bespoke booking service offering hand-picked accommodation in homestays, flats and bedsits for medical, academic and professional visitors. Convenient locations near major institutions. Flexible stays.

Halls of Residence (click on Short Stay): Many student halls open for commercial bookings during the summer, usually until around mid-September. These offer very good value for money, often in a central location. 

CRM Students: three properties in London (Wembley and Victoria/Westminster) offering a range of rooms for summer lets.

YHA Youth Hostels: There are several YHA hostels in London; the closest to LSHTM are St Pancras (10 minute walk), Central (15 minute walk) and Oxford Street (15 – 20 minute walk). They offer very reasonably priced accommodation (as little as £30 per night) but note this is in shared (single sex) rooms.

Hostelbookers: gives details of hostel-style accommodation, but note you may be mixing with a slightly younger crowd. Clink78 and Generator are both reasonably near LSHTM, about 15 minutes walk.

International Students House: This is a popular student residence which also offers short-term accommodation in shared rooms. It is about 15 minutes walk from LSHTM, and is located near Regents Park.

Goodenough College: Another popular international student residence, about 15 minutes walk from LSHTM. Offers single rooms on a short-term basis. During the summer (June-September), availability tends to be better.

Indian YMCA: About 10 minutes walk from LSHTM, offers basic but cheap accommodation to all nationalities. 

LHA London: Hostels in central London for short and long term accommodation. They offer affordable accommodation, cheaper deposits and a short notice period for longer stays. Multiple locations across London.

Private accommodation

There is a range of short-term private accommodation on offer in London. We recommend you visit the University of London Housing Services website who have their own Housing Database, a Find a Flatmate messageboard and links to trusted Letting Agents. There is also a list of well-known websites regularly used by people searching for accommodation. Please note that we strongly advise that you travel to London before arranging private accommodation as there are known to be many scams via websites.
