"Epidemiological Factors, including Geographic Variation, Contributing to Sensory (Hearing & Vision) Disability in the United States and Globally"

Findings from the USA Census Bureau’s American Community Survey

Dr. Howard Hoffman will present sensory disability estimates (hearing and vision loss) from the USA Census Bureau’s American Community Survey (ACS). The seminar will explore epidemiological factors and risks related to sensory disability prevalence, including the impact of geographic variability.

Howard J. Hoffman is Director of the Epidemiology and Statistics Program, at the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), NIH. The research program focuses on prevalence, incidence, risk factors, and preventive interventions for disorders of hearing, balance, smell, taste, voice, speech, and language. He is Project Officer for a number of U.S. National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) hearing, balance and related components.
