PENDA STAR+: Evidence from a disability inclusive livelihoods programme in Bangladesh
We will discuss evidence from the PENDA STAR+ programme, which aims to improve livelihoods and wellbeing among youth with disabilities in Bangladesh.
People with disabilities face a heightened risk of poverty and unemployment. However, there is little evidence on the impact of livelihood interventions specifically among people with disabilities. STAR+ is a skills development and job placement programme targeted to out-of-school youth with disabilities (ages 14–35) living in poverty.
The Programme for Evidence to Inform Disability Action (PENDA), in collaboration with the BRAC Institute for Governance and Development (BIGD), has carried out an evaluation of the STAR+ programme in Bangladesh. In this webinar, we will present findings from this research on the effectiveness of the STAR+ programme in addressing barriers to decent work for people with disabilities in Bangladesh.
