Co-producing community-based mental health support in Africa
Insights from the SUCCEED programme, a research consortium working to understand what works for people with mental health conditions and psychosocial disabilities.
The Support, Comprehensive Care and Empowerment for People with Psychosocial Disabilities (SUCCEED) programme is an FCDO funded research consortium working across Malawi, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone.
Working with people with lived experience throughout, the programme co-produced and evaluated a community-based rehabilitation (CBR) intervention - a multi-component package of care and support for people living with psychosis. The SUCCEED-intervention is a social, community-based approach centred on human connection and peer support. It includes case management, peer support, livelihoods support, and family and community engagement.
In this webinar, we will share:
- The journey – How the intervention was co-produced and evaluated across four countries, including reflections from peer researchers
- The intervention – What the SUCCEED model involves and how it embeds human rights principles
- The impact – Key findings from the evaluation across Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Sierra Leone
Join us to learn how co-produced, community-based interventions can strengthen mental health support using a rights-based approach in diverse settings.
