About the Every Newborn INDEPTH study
Background to EN-INDEPTH
Every year there are roughly 5.1 neonatal deaths and stillbirths and 300,000 maternal deaths worldwide.
The Every Newborn Action Plan (ENAP) and roadmap is a commitment to end preventable newborn deaths and stillbirths.
To achieve this, timely data on outcomes and coverage are crucial.
The Every Newborn-INDEPTH study was established to provide evidence to improve population-based survey data regarding pregnancy outcomes.
It was conducted in five Health and Demographic Surveillance System Sites:
- Bangladesh
- Ethiopia
- Ghana
- Guinea-Bissau
- Uganda
With a co-ordinating team at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and Makerere University School of Public Health.
