Population aging and social security sustainability in MICs: The case of Algeria
Using Algeria as a case study, Dr Flici discusses the implications of the accelerated population aging and the expansion of chronic diseases on the financial sustainability of social security for middle income countries.
In this seminar, and using a multi-scenario analysis, Dr. Flici demonstrates that systemic reforms are required to prevent the retirement system in Algeria from collapsing under the population aging burden. Furthermore, he discusses policy options that could help keep the deficit under control.
For any externals who wish to attend in person, please report to the LSHTM reception in Keppel Street at 12:30.
