How can family-planning services be made more accessible and inclusive for women with disabilities?

Join researchers from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and Oxford Policy Management (OPM) Nigeria, alongside colleagues from Sightsavers Nigeria, for a public webinar presenting findings from the Inclusive Family Planning (IFPLAN) programme in Kaduna City, Nigeria.

Implemented by Sightsavers and partners under the Disability Inclusive Development (DID) programme, IFPLAN aimed to address barriers to family-planning information and services for people with disabilities. Both the programme and its accompanying research evaluation were funded by the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).

Sightsavers will introduce the IFPLAN programme and its approach. Researchers from LSHTM and OPM Nigeria will present findings from a cluster-randomised controlled trial evaluating IFPLAN's community- and facility-based interventions, alongside a mixed-methods process evaluation examining how the interventions were implemented, participants' experiences, and the factors influencing their delivery and potential effectiveness.

The webinar will explore what these findings mean for the design, implementation and evaluation of disability-inclusive sexual and reproductive health programmes, highlighting lessons for future research, policy and practice.

The event will be of interest to researchers, programme implementers, organisations of persons with disabilities, policymakers, and anyone interested in equitable access to healthcare.
