Global surveillance of trends in population-based cancer survival, 1990-2022 - CONCORD-4
Updates and results from the largest project to date on global trends in cancer survival (CONCORD-4)
This hybrid event is part of London Global Cancer Week 2026. We will present results from the fourth cycle of the CONCORD programme (CONCORD-4), which has analysed anonymised individual records on over 83 million adults diagnosed with one of 22 cancers during 1990-2022 (accounting for 86-90% of the global cancer burden), and on over 650,000 children diagnosed with any cancer, from 383 population-based cancer registries in 75 countries world-wide. CONCORD-4 offers the largest available set of directly observed, real-world evidence on cancer survival in the world.
We will present worldwide trends over 30 years in age-standardised 5-year net survival for the most common cancers in adults and children, by country, calendar period, age at diagnosis, and where relevant, sex. We will also present trends in 5-year survival conditional on surviving the first year after diagnosis; this provides an indirect assessment of the success of the diagnostic and therapeutic pathway during the first year after diagnosis.
