Tusobola: We Can

A short film by Amref Health Africa in Uganda and the PENDA programme at ICED on the disability-inclusive health.

A nurse at a health facility in Luuka district, Uganda is assisting a mother of a child with albinism. She is handing over a prescription to the mother and her daughter, who is sitting next to her looks at the piece of paper. In the corner, a film camera is visible.

What changes when people come together to shape their own access to healthcare?

This short film follows a community in Luuka district as they come together through participatory learning and action groups to address the barriers faced by people with disabilities in accessing healthcare.

During the webinar, we will screen the film, followed by a discussion with experts from ICED and Amref Health Africa in Uganda. We will reflect on how the approach has worked in practice and what has changed so far, offering an early look at the programme’s impact ahead of the final results expected later this year.

This film is part of the Missing Billion project, funded by the National Institute for Health and care Research (NIHR) and the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO).
