Smartphones and Adolescent Sub-cultures: Set within Gender, Law and Sexuality Discourses in India
Please note that this event has been postponed. The revised date and time will be announced soon.
Among contemporary innovations that have changed the way we live, work and love, the contribution of mobile phone technologies (cell phone and the latest smartphones) is phenomenal. Owning a mobile phone brings a sense of identity, personhood, privacy and freedom, particularly for adolescents and young people. Along with this revolution, there are a new set of moral panics that are getting triggered around issues of sexuality.
Prof Lakshmi Lingam, a gender expert, with the School of Media and Cultural Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, India, will share the findings and observations of a just-concluded study on the subject funded
