"Debugging" code to gain insights on controlling viruses transmitted by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes

The control of dengue and other viruses transmitted by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes depends predominantly on interventions that target mosquitoes. Incorporation of these interventions into mathematical models often requires special consideration of the biology of these mosquitoes and their role in virus transmission. In this talk, Alex Perkins will present results from work that describes the current understanding of the potential of three distinct interventions against viruses transmitted by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes.

Speaker

Dr Alex Perkins is an Associate Professor of Biological Sciences at the University of Notre Dame. His research uses mathematical models to better understand the dynamics of transmission and control of mosquito-borne and other infectious diseases.
