Guide to School-wide sessions

Welcome & Studying at LSHTM

Meet LSHTM Director Liam Smeeth, Pro-Director Education Ahmed Rashid and Associate Deans of Education Melanie Morris, Alan Brown and Peter Weatherburn to find out more about being a master’s degree student at LSHTM.

Student Support at LSHTM

Find out more about our Student Support Services and meet the specialist teams covering disability & neurodiversity support, counselling service, mental health & wellbeing support and careers services

EDI at LSHTM

An introduction to equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) at LSHTM. Our vision is to provide an inclusive research, education and working environment reflected through a community that everyone feels a part of, which is safe, respectful, supportive and enables all to reach their full potential.

Decolonising Global Health & the Curriculum

This session will provide a brief overview of colonialism and global health, and LSHTM’s role in both. The Decolonising the Curriculum Group works to support the faculties to build their understanding of what is meant to decolonise the curriculum and what practical steps teams might take when doing so.

Student Representation at LSHTM

Learn about the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) and its Executive roles ahead of the upcoming elections, as well as other opportunities to represent your programme and student interests at LSHTM including Student & Digital Content Ambassadors and supporting Centre activities.

Using AI in Your Studies

LSHTM recognises the potential for AI to transform the way we learn and study. This session will provide a brief overview of how AI can support your learning during your time at LSHTM. We will cover the policies, guidance, tools and support available to you, explore some practical ways AI can be used in your studies, and discuss approaches to maintaining academic integrity. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and find out where to go for further support with using AI.

Welcome Fair (15th October)

Our Welcome Fair is the equivalent of a "freshers' fair", where you can find out more about the student services available to you and opportunities to get involved at LSHTM. Virtual Zoom stands will be open throughout the sessions so you can drop in and out of calls at your own pace, visit as many of the stands as you like and ask your questions. Full details of all the stands can be found on our Welcome Fair page.
