This scholarship has been established to honour the memory of Neil Davis (a student at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) until his death in 2015) by assisting students whose work embodies the values and interests which Neil followed in his own life and career, namely finding new and creative ways to help low- and middle-income countries to adopt sound financial planning policies and practices.
This scholarship, with a total award value of GBP 3,000.00, is intended to help fund research and travel costs associated with the MSc projects of students on the MSc Health Policy, Planning & Financing course. The total funding may be awarded to a single student or split between up to 6 students (minimum award value of GBP 500.00).
Preference will be given to students whose work focuses on Cambodia, South-East Asia, Nigeria and Malawi, or whose areas of research include malaria, cancer, health finance, and micro-business development.
Eligibility for funding
This scholarship is open to students currently registered on the intensive MSc Health Policy, Planning & Financing programme at the LSHTM.

- Please search for ‘Neil Davis Memorial Scholarship’ if you wish to apply for this funding, and then answer all the questions online and attach any documents required as part of your application.
- Budget Form – please fill in this budget form. The budget should provide a full list of projected costs for the MSc project, and include justification for the costs. Please highlight which costs are to be covered by the scholarship, as well as show details of how other costs will be covered.
- Timetable – Please provide a timetable for the project work.
- Supervisor Support Form– please fill in this supervisor support form. Applicants will need to upload a supervisor support form for the proposed project work for which they are requesting funding. You will not be able to submit your application without attaching this to your online application.
- Once you are happy with all your responses you can press submit and you should receive a confirmation of receipt email at your LSHTM email address.
- The scholarships portal will not be able to accept applications after the deadline stated below.
- The Scholarships team will be in touch with an outcome in due course.
Incomplete applications will not be considered for this funding.
