Termination of daily COVID-19 diagnostics reports from MRCG at LSHTM

Illustration of Covid-19

The National Public Health Laboratories (NPHL) have commenced testing for COVID-19 in The Gambia. The Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is proud to have supported the process of setting up the laboratories for testing, including the provision of equipment, the calibration and certification of tools, as well as training of staff.

Since 15th February 2020, our Unit has invested over 2.3 million Dalasis to conduct more than 1,972 tests in our laboratories in Fajara, in collaboration with the NPHL. In this period, we have been providing daily diagnostics reports, highlighting the number of tests conducted and the results of these tests.

With effect from 4th June, the Unit will no longer share daily diagnostics reports on social media and our website. While we will continue to conduct testing as part of our support to the national COVID-19 response efforts, reporting will be done through the Ministry of Health’s channels. We encourage members of the public to follow the daily COVID-19 Situation Reports from the Ministry for relevant information.
