MRC The Gambia Research training

 

The Research Training & Career Development (RTCD) supports capacity building, skills and knowledge transfer necessary to strengthen quality scientific and social science research in Africa. The strategic approach to achieving this focuses on continuous technical and research support competency, leadership development and partnerships.

Vision

Nurturing talent through transformational, professional and personal development to deliver the mission of the Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Objectives

  • Develop and retain outstanding researchers by providing quality training, scholarships and fellowships from pre-doctoral to post-doctoral level.
  • Strengthen staff capability through professional development, training and continuous learning that support excellence in research and operations.
  • Design and deliver training programmes that build the skills, knowledge and leadership needed to advance the Unit's strategic and scientific priorities.
  • Strengthen research capacity in The Gambia and West Africa by fostering strategic national, regional and international partnerships that expand training opportunities, knowledge exchange and scientific collaboration.
