School meals: Improving child health and leveraging food systems transformation
A panel discussion co-hosted by the Research Consortium for School Health and Nutrition and the Centre on Climate Change & Planetary Health
Celebrating the Research Consortium for School Health and Nutrition's new Special Collection on planet-friendly school meals in The Lancet Planetary Health, this hybrid event will explore how school meals can do more than nourish children – they can drive healthier futures, support sustainable food systems and accelerate progress towards net zero. This event is organised by the Research Consortium’s Diets & Planetary Health Community of Practice in collaboration with LSHTM’s Centre on Climate Change & Planetary Health.
Bringing together researchers, policymakers and leaders in nutrition, education, sustainability and planetary health, this panel discussion will spotlight key findings and explore the powerful overlap between research, policy and practice.
The speakers will explore key findings from the collection, examining why investing in school meals is not only essential for child health, but a critical pathway to wider societal and environmental transformation.
