The promise and pitfalls of AI in health

Nick Black Annual Health Services Research Lecture with Hetan Shah, organised by the Department of Health Services Research and Policy

Graphic with text - LSHTM Event

There has been considerable hype about the transformative potential of AI across many domains of society. Hetan will consider the promise and pitfalls of AI in health, and how we should think about practical uses to make a difference to people’s lives.

Giving a perspective on technology from the humanities and social sciences, he will make the case for thinking about ‘trustworthiness’, analyse the power relationship with big technology firms and give due consideration to the messy issues of adoption.
