Crises seminar: Health in Iraq
Come listen to a joint LSHTM seminar of the Friends of MSF Society and the Public Health in Humanitarian Crises Group:
Extreme measures: Healthcare in Iraq today
Abstract: Fabio Forgione has been MSF’s Head of Mission in Iraq for the past few years. He will reflect on his experience, looking at the current crisis in Iraq and its evolutions. He will also share his views on the overall humanitarian situation in the country, talking about the most affected areas and the main humanitarian gaps seen on the ground. He’ll aslo reflect on MSF’s concerns related to protection issues, such as sectarian discrimination as well as widespread situations of denied or forced return affecting IDPs. Finally, he’ll also talk about the effect of ‘stabilization’ and ‘reconciliation process’ efforts in the so called ‘liberated areas’.
External visitors will be greeted at the LSHTM reception and directed to the seminar room shortly before the talk begins. An audio recording of the talk will be posted on the Crises group website after the seminar.
