99DOTS: A low-cost real-time technology for remote adherence monitoring for TB treatment using mobile phones
Developing a patient-friendly and effective solution for adherence monitoring for TB treatment has been an open problem for decades. 99DOTS is a low-cost, mobile phone-based technology that enables real-time remote monitoring of daily intake of medication. This system makes treatment more accessible and convenient for patients while enabling providers to focus on the highest risk patients through real-time alerts and updates. The seminar will discuss the 99DOTS technology, our scale-up across tens of thousands of patients in India, and lessons learned in healthcare delivery and systems strengthening.
Brandon is currently VP of Engineering and Research for Everwell Health Solutions who run the 99DOTS project. His interests lie at the intersection of global health and digital technologies. He read MSc Political Sociology from LSE and MSc Development Studies from SOAS as a Marshall Scholar, and previously received a BA in Computer Science from Harvard University.
