MSc Nutrition for Global Public Health

Shreyasi Halder

Educational/professional background

I completed my PhD in Food and Nutrition from the University of Calcutta in 2024. I have been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Nutrition and Dietetics at Sister Nivedita University, India, since 2023. My academic and professional experiences deepened my understanding of the multifaceted nature of nutrition challenges in India. This growing awareness inspired me to pursue a second MSc Nutrition for Global Health at the LSHTM, to equip myself with an interdisciplinary skill set to address these complex public health issues back home.

Research interests or career goals

I am interested in addressing the complex challenges within food systems through policy-driven research that improves health outcomes and reduces disparities across vulnerable populations. I also aspire to focus on advancing global health and nutrition equity, with a particular emphasis on maternal and child nutrition.

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

I am particularly drawn to the program’s emphasis on translational research and its faculty expertise in nutrition-sensitive policy interventions, which closely align with my research interests. I am grateful that I get to do this Master's from a school that is a global leader in public and global health.
