Educational/professional background

Hiya, my name is Sarina! I came straight from my BSc in Global Health and Social Medicine at King’s College London into this MSc Epidemiology at LSHTM. During my undergrad, I worked as a research assistant in the ESRC Centre for Society and Mental Health, which is where my research interest lies!

Research interests or career goals

I am mainly interested in mental health and neurodevelopmental disorders and their intersection with inclusion health, substance use and addiction. Following my MSc, I am hoping to pursue a PhD to put me on track for a research-focused career.

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

My main reason for choosing LSHTM was that it is such a unique educational institution as it purely focuses on health sciences, which you can’t really get in many other places in the world. This specialisation creates such an inspiring environment as soon as you step into the building. It’s very motivating to go about your day and overhear conversations discussing global health issues from so many perspectives. I specifically wanted to study Epidemiology at LSHTM as I knew that I would get an unmatched and rigorous education that would set me up well for any future career that I want to pursue.

Extra information

I have received truly amazing support from LSHTM for my ADHD, so if you have any questions about student support services or in general doing an MSc at the school as a neurodiverse person feel free to shoot me a message!
