Holly Ward
Student | Full-time | United KingdomMSc Epidemiology
Educational/professional background
I joined LSHTM straight from my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of St Andrews. I have always been fascinated by disease aetiology, mechanisms and spread and I wrote my dissertation on prevention of adverse reproductive sequelae in Chlamydia trachomatis urogenital infections.
Research interests or career goals
I am interested in pharmaceutical development, regulation and clinical trials and would love to work at the intersection between pharmaceuticals and public health. I am hoping to gain a better insight into potential career or further study options throughout my year at LSHTM.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I was drawn to LSHTM primarily because of the school’s leading status in public health and infectious diseases. I thought the small and specialised nature of the school would be beneficial for meeting new people with similar interests and guiding my career choices. I chose to study MSc Epidemiology to broaden my understanding of diseases from my undergraduate studies to encompass population health, health data and interventions.
