Christine Nguyen
Student | Full-time | United States of AmericaMSc Global Mental Health
Educational/professional background
I completed my undergraduate studies at UCLA with a Psychology B.A. and an Asian American Studies B.A.
This academic background has shown me the value of taking a multidisciplinary approach, considering others' cultures, lived experiences, and historical narratives to address mental health effectively.
Research interests or career goals
My research interests are in promoting children's mental health in low-resourced and marginalized communities by strengthening protective factors and reducing risks. I am passionate about engaging the community to create sustainable initiatives through culturally relevant services and low-cost interventions.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I chose LSHTM and MSc Global Mental Health because of its diverse, interdisciplinary community. My cohort's range of backgrounds and experiences has enriched my learning, broadened my perspectives, and challenged me to think more critically.
Extra information
I am also happy to offer support to prospective students who have a non-traditional path - returning to school later, including those navigating scholarships and life as international students.
