The MRC/UVRI and LSHTM Uganda Research Unit has three well structured research sites across the country. Explore the different locations where our work is making impact by reading more below.
Entebbe Research Station
Situated about 35km from Kampala, the Unit's main operational base is located at the campus of the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) in Entebbe. The MRC Unit includes administrative offices, research clinics, laboratories for the Basic Science Programme and the Clinical Laboratory Section (CDLS), the IT and the Data Management and Statistics section, the Maintenance Workshop and other technical and infrastructural support services and a guest house.
Masaka Research Station
Our Masaka Research Station is a dynamic hub for clinical research and trial implementation in southwestern Uganda. Strategically located in an urban setting, the station supports a wide range of studies focused on infectious diseases, emerging non-communicable conditions, and innovative prevention and treatment approaches, including vaccine and therapeutic trials.
Kyamulibwa Research Station
Our Kyamulibwa Research Station, located in the rural district of Kalungu in south-central Uganda, is the long-standing home of the General Population Cohort (GPC), one of Africa’s most enduring population health studies. Established in 1989, the site has evolved into a critical field station for longitudinal research in HIV, non-communicable diseases, and population health trends across generations.
