Associate Professor of Infectious Disease Epidemiology in the Faculty of Infectious and Tropical Diseases, Katharina, was awarded the prize at the 50th Union World Conference on Lung Health in Hyderabad, India.

The Union Awards recognise the work conducted around the world by those dedicated to lung health. They were open to researchers at any stage of their career for work on tuberculosis or lung health published in the past five years.

The Union Scientific Prize recognised Dr Kranzer’s exemplary work, characterised by the appropriate use of research methods across different disciplines and an emphasis on collaboration and capacity building.  A very well deserved award to Katharina, who not only does excellent TB research, but is also committed to supporting others through her co-directorship of the Centre which convenes over 100 TB researchers and beyond.

On receiving the award: 'I am really honoured and delighted to be the recipient of this prestigious award. This would not have been possible without the support of mentors, peers, friends and family.'
