17 countries from Latin America and the Caribbean have joined the Sustainable School Feeding Network (RAES) to enhance regional collaboration on school feeding and nutrition programmes. Established by Brazil and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in 2018, RAES advances school feeding policies and programmes in the region, with countries pledging to work together to expand student coverage, strengthen links with family farming and promote food education.
To discuss the next steps for RAES, the first in-person meeting of member countries was held on 21-22 November in Panama City, where country representatives defined their responsibilities and future actions to advance the regional agenda on school feeding.
