The first-ever Southeast Asia School Meals Coalition Summit was held in Siem Reap, Cambodia on 18-19 November, marking a significant milestone in the region’s efforts to enhance child nutrition and education. Co-hosted by Cambodia, the Philippines and Republic of Korea, the summit emphasised the importance of regional collaboration and investment in school meals programmes in order to reach every child by 2030.

The opening session was moderated by Linda Schultz, the Research Consortium’s Secretariat Lead, and provided delegates with insights into the evidence, progress, and gaps in school feeding across Southeast Asia. Experts and policymakers emphasised the value-for-money and policy potential of these programmes and best practices, inspiring participants to address evidence gaps and scale up effective practices.
