Evidence synthesis

Evidence synthesis is a research method that brings together all relevant information already available on a research question using transparent and robust methods. It involves combining information from multiple reports focused on the same topic to have a comprehensive understanding of the results overall.

This is useful to understand the current state of the evidence base and identify gaps in knowledge. Many types of outputs use evidence synthesis such as policy briefs, various types of literature reviews, clinical guidelines, and evidence portals, among others.

What we do

We run several seminars and events, including the bi-monthly London Evidence Syntheses and Research Use Seminars in collaboration with the EPPI-Centre at UCL. These seminars aim to encourage discussion and information-sharing on challenges and innovations in evidence syntheses methods.

These hybrid seminars are free and are typically hosted at LSHTM in London but can also be attended online. They take place every other month on a Wednesday between 12.30 and 13.45. They include 25-30 min presentations and plenty of time for discussion. Access the list of the coming seminars, as well as the list of the recordings of previous seminars on the EPPI Centre website. For our other events, please consult the ‘Events’ tab on the Centre for Evaluation’s website
