Research
My research explores how we can make healthy, sustainable diets accessible and affordable for all, with a particular focus on children’s fruit and vegetable consumption. Using mixed methods that combine large-scale quantitative analyses with in-depth qualitative insights, I integrate nutrition science, behavioural research, and environmental perspectives. I’m especially interested in the potential of school-based growing interventions to inspire and establish healthier eating habits, reduce inequalities in diet quality, and support planetary health.
I am currently part of the Sustainable and Healthy Food Systems in Southern Africa (SHEFS-SA) project, where I am investigating the potential of integrating neglected and underutilized crops in school meals. I also provide quantitative analytical support to The Food Foundation, primarily as the analyst of their biannual food insecurity surveys.
I was previously part of the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit in Environmental Change and Health where I led work looking at the integration of environmental sustainability in food-based dietary guidelines.
