How certain is certain enough?

Lecture on contemporary global health issues.

Graphic with text - Global Health Lecture Series

When faced with a new health threat, there are three crucial questions we must consider. What is going on? What can we do about it? And how can we communicate these things effectively? This talk will cover how our notions of scientific evidence are evolving in the modern era, drawing on Adam Kucharski's epidemiological research and recent book Proof: The Uncertain Science of Certainty. From epidemic response and clinical trials to online misinformation and AI, it will look at how truth emerges – and why it falters.

Speaker

Adam Kucharski, LSHTM
