Natalie Bennett, Green Party member of the House of Lords will join us to discuss how policies like a universal basic income, agroecology, the four-day work week, and free education are showing the way to systemic change, and a society and economy that works for people and planet.

Drawing on the second edition of her book ‘Change Everything: How We Can Rethink, Repair, and Rebuild Society’, Natalie will reflect on how people and societies are increasingly ready to unlearn outdated ideas of infinite growth, progress relying on competition, and paid work being the essential foundation of identity – approaches that have left us grappling with environmental destruction and societal dissatisfaction.

Natalie’s talk will offer fresh perspectives on how we can move forward, with practical and transformative ideas for change. Copies of her book, which combines global insights with local solutions, will be available for purchase at the event.

The event will feature a 30 minute talk from Natalie, followed by Q&A and discussion with the audience.

Natalie Bennett

Natalie Bennett, Baroness Bennett of Manor Castle, is a British politician, journalist, and member of the House of Lords, representing the Green Party of England and Wales. Born in Sydney, Australia, she studied agricultural science and Asian studies before moving to the UK in 1999.

With a background in journalism, Natalie has written for publications such as The Guardian, The Times, and The Independent. She served as leader of the Green Party from 2012 to 2016, when she led the party to a then-record result in the 2015 election, winning more votes than in every previous general election added together. During her time as party leader, she championed policies on environmental sustainability, social justice, and democratic reform.

In 2019, she was appointed to the House of Lords, where she continues to advocate for progressive change, including universal basic income, agroecology, and climate action. She is also promoting a private member's bill to control the use of biocides in consumer products, reflecting her interests in antimicrobial resistance, healthy human microbiomes and microbial biodiversity. Natalie is the author of Change Everything: How We Can Rethink, Repair, and Rebuild Society.

Natalie's next book: Green thinking: Unlearning Outdated Ideas in Science, Economics and Politics will be out with Routledge next year.
