Russell Mannion, Professor of Health Systems at the University of Birmingham, is internationally renowned for his research on organisational culture and its impact on health care quality.

Modern health care policy frequently invokes notions of cultural change as a key means of achieving performance improvement and good quality care.

In his lecture, having unpacked what is meant by organisational culture and explored the empirical evidence and key sources of ideas linking culture to health care quality and performance, he’ll suggest a more realistic assessment of the task of cultural transformation is warranted.
