Yennie Kim
Student | Full-time | South KoreaMSc Health Policy, Planning & Financing
Educational/professional background
I worked as a medical scientist in a laboratory at a public university hospital in South Korea.
Research interests or career goals
Through my professional experience, I encountered various issues within our healthcare system, which motivated me to broaden my perspectives. In addition, I have volunteered in South Korea and developed a strong interest in reducing inequalities in healthcare. My research interests and career goals focus on addressing and narrowing these gaps in health systems — not only in South Korea but also globally — to promote more equitable access to healthcare for all.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
MSc Health Policy, Planning & Financing is unique because it is jointly delivered by LSHTM and LSE. LSHTM provides a strong foundation in public health, while LSE offers valuable insights into policy and health economics through comparative analysis of different countries’ healthcare systems. I also appreciate the opportunity to participate in a wide range of events, lectures, and networking activities at both institutions, which greatly enrich my academic and personal experience. I believe this programme is an excellent choice for anyone aspiring to become a policymaker or to work with international organisations (INGOs).
