Educational/professional background
My professional background is in dietetics, and I worked as a dietitian in the hospital and long-term care homes in Canada. I am passionate about improving quality of life. An area of interest lies within homestead gardening. Having seen clients and patients enjoy gardening and eating the produce they grow not only increased their physical and mental health, but also increased nutrition intake overall.
Research interests or career goals
Having seen the effects of gardening at an individual level, I want to broaden my perspective on a global setting. My research interest is in nutrition focused agriculture and how it can improve diet diversity and cost effectiveness.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I chose the MSc Nutrition for Global Health at LSHTM because it integrates current research into teaching, and I am gaining practical skills that can be applied in the future. The School also focuses on student success and provides immense support and opportunities to network.
