MSc Medical Parasitology & Entomology

Tayeba Syeda

Educational/professional background

I’m British Bangladeshi and have an undergraduate in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Westminster.

Research interests or career goals

I have a strong interest in the education sector and currently volunteer with a children's charity focused on providing opportunities for children in less represented communities. In terms of parasitology, I have a keen interest in schistosomiasis and women’s health.

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

As part of my second year in my undergrad, I completed an optional module in human parasitology and felt this course would be the perfect way to strengthen my interest in infectious disease but with a scope on diseases of poverty, LSHTM felt like the place to be! As part of my module, I had a visiting lecturer who had studied here on this course and another who worked here within the parasitology department, it definitely felt like the right place for anyone who wanted to know more about the field.
