Sona Kalatardi
Student | Full-time | United States of AmericaMSc Public Health
Educational/professional background
Before starting my MSc Public Health, I graduated from the University of Virginia with a double major in Global Public Health and Cognitive Science.
Research interests or career goals
During my undergrad, I conducted research in Kilifi County, Kenya, where I collaborated with a local NGO to identify and develop educational programs aimed at reducing stigma towards children with disabilities within the local community. My schoolwork and research experiences sparked my interest in health equity and the transformative power of community engagement in addressing health challenges, a passion that I knew I wanted to continue developing through further studies.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I chose LSHTM because I wanted to expand my knowledge of public health on a global scale, while also learning how to apply these concepts in any setting I may work in. LSHTM has provided both the classes and an incredibly international cohort, whose diverse insights have been instrumental in shaping my learning.
Extra information
Before starting the course, I began the process of applying to medical school in the United States. If you have any questions about doing both the master's and the application cycle at the same time, please feel free to reach out!
