Educational/professional background

I’m Sophie from South Korea, and my journey into public health began in the world of Korean medicine. After graduating from Daegu Haany University as a KMD, I worked at the Seoul Korean Medical Hospital of Daejeon University, where I treated patients and researched how traditional approaches could complement evidence-based practice. The more I worked, the more I realized that health doesn’t stop at the clinic door. It’s shaped by culture, environment, and community.

Research interests or career goals

I’m particularly interested in mental health, AI ethics, and how technology and tradition can work together to build more holistic care systems.

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

That curiosity led me to public health and eventually to LSHTM, a place where global perspectives meet a shared mission of improving health for all.
