Educational/professional background
I am a public health professional with a Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) from Pokhara University, a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Implementation Research from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia, supported by the WHO TDR Postgraduate Scholarship, and an MSc Health Policy, Planning & Financing (HPPF) jointly delivered by LSHTM and LSE.
I have over 13 years of experience in health service delivery, health systems, policy, governance, and implementation. I began my career as a paramedic and have since worked with organisations including RTI International, Canadian Red Cross, WHO Nepal, United States Pharmacopeia, Crown Agents, and Adam Smith International, working closely with Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population and other national stakeholders.
I currently serve as Chairperson of the Nepal Health Professional Council (NHPC), Nepal’s statutory body responsible for regulating health professionals and supporting professional standards and quality of practice. I also work as a Founder of the Nepal Public Health Institute, a public health consulting company in Nepal.
What I enjoyed most about studying my programme/at LSHTM
I particularly enjoyed the multidisciplinary nature of the MSc HPPF and the opportunity to learn across health policy, economics, financing, planning, and governance.
The joint learning environment at LSHTM and LSE, combined with a diverse international cohort, allowed me to connect my practical experience in Nepal with perspectives from different health systems and disciplines. The programme also strengthened my ability to critically analyse policy and translate evidence into practical solutions.
What I have been doing since graduating
After graduating, I joined Adam Smith International (ASI) as a Health Systems Lead for a UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO)-funded programme, working on health systems strengthening, Human Resources for Health, and climate and health.
I have since taken on my current role as Chairperson of the Nepal Health Professional Council, alongside my work with Nepal Public Health Institute, Public Health Initiative and also continue to lead Public Health Update, a widely used platform for public health information, opportunities, and professional resources in Nepal.
