Educational/professional background

I am a medical doctor from Australia, now studying MSc Public Health full time in London. I have been working as a junior doctor for the past 5 years, mostly in rural and remote areas in Far North Queensland. I have worked mostly in internal medicine and have clinical interests in general medicine, infectious disease and sexual health. A large part of my work has involved working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations which fostered my interest in public health inequities and drove my application to this MSc Public Health!

Research interests or career goals

My research interests to date have mostly centred around infectious disease topics in underserved populations. Now that I am here at LSHTM, many other research interests that are opening up including sexual Health and gender inequities. I am one of the Student Liaison Officers for the STI Research Interest Group here at LSHTM this year.

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

I was drawn to LSHTM due to its strong focus on research and innovation. I chose MSc Public Health as I have been interested in moving towards a career in public health and felt this was a great way to gain further knowledge in this area.
