Educational/professional background

I am an MBBS student and President’s Scholar at the University of Hong Kong (HKU), and I studied the MSc Public Health (Health Services Management) at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). My dissertation examined policy options to strengthen Hong Kong’s Strategy and Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). I have held leadership roles in the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) as SCOPH External Affairs Assistant for Advocacy and Regional Assistant for Asia-Pacific, and I previously served as Director on Public Health for the Asian Medical Students’ Association Hong Kong (AMSAHK). Recently, I was selected to the Quadripartite Working Group on Youth Engagement for AMR (FAO, UNEP, WHO, WOAH) and appointed Co-Chair of the ReAct Asia-Pacific Youth Task Force on AMR.

What I enjoyed most about studying my programme/at LSHTM

I appreciated the mix of rigorous teaching and open discussion, especially in Health Policy, Process & Power; Health Systems; Health Services; and Health Services Management. The faculty brought practical, real-world experience and encouraged critical thinking, and the diverse cohort added perspectives from many health systems. The applied modules and assessments built skills in policy analysis, service design, and implementation that I now use in advocacy and research. The mentorship and community also helped me connect my clinical training with health policy in a meaningful way.

Since graduating I have been...

Since completing my MSc as an intercalated degree, I have returned to Hong Kong to continue my MBBS studies. Alongside this, I have been advancing youth engagement and evidence-informed policy by coordinating IFMSA statements and interventions at WHO EB154 and WPRO RC74 (covering areas such as AMR and the health workforce), leading IFMSA delegations at UNFCCC SB62 and COP29 to put health on the climate agenda, and delivering IFMSA’s statement at the UNGA High-Level Meeting on NCDs and Mental Health. I am also co-developing youth-led AMR initiatives through the Quadripartite Working Group (FAO, UNEP, WHO, WOAH) and serving as Co-Chair of the ReAct Asia-Pacific Youth Task Force on AMR.

Extra information

I am happy to chat with prospective students about intercalating at LSHTM, the Health Services Management stream, serving as a Student Liaison Officer, and how a medical background complements the MSc, especially for those interested in connecting public health with clinical practice and exploring careers at the intersection of medicine and global health governance.
