Educational/professional background
After completing my first degree in Medicine and Surgery, I worked briefly as a medical practitioner at a private hospital before leaving to commence a medical residency training programme in public health. As a public health physician, I work with stakeholders in rural communities within Edo State, Nigeria to identify community health problems and design evidence-based interventions to solve them.
My research interests/career goals
My main interests are the mathematical modelling of infectious diseases and the applications of robust statistical methods in clinical practice. My overarching career goal is to help track and manage infectious disease outbreaks in Sub-Saharan Africa through the correct handling of health data.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I chose Medical Statistics because it provides a platform that unites my love for the medical and mathematical sciences. Also, having had some initial exposure to statistical analysis of health data and seeing the tremendous role it plays in deriving evidence for practice, I decided to take my experience a step further by enrolling for a Master's programme at a leading institution. I was drawn to LSHTM because it has consistently been a strong voice in global health and is renowned for its high-quality research.
