Educational/professional background
I am a medical doctor and public health professional with over ten years of experience delivering integrated health, nutrition, WASH, emergency response, and health systems strengthening programmes in fragile and conflict-affected settings. My academic pursuit at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), where I graduated with an MSc Public Health (Health Services Management) as a Chevening Scholar, further deepened my commitment to humanitarian health.
My long-term vision is to contribute to equitable, evidence-based, and context-appropriate healthcare solutions that improve the wellbeing of vulnerable populations, particularly those affected by conflict, displacement, and weak health systems. I believe that sustainable health outcomes are best achieved through community-centred, locally driven approaches.
What I enjoyed most about studying at LSHTM
Studying at LSHTM was both transformational and inspiring. I deeply appreciated the academic rigour, the wide range of learning resources, and the supportive environment created by faculty and staff. Walking through Keppel Street into the historic John Snow Lecture Theatre and passing the iconic pump-handle replica was a daily reminder of the global relevance and legacy of public health.
The diverse student community was among the greatest highlights of my experience. Collaborating with peers from different cultures, professional backgrounds, and continents broadened my worldview, strengthened my appreciation for multiculturalism, and reaffirmed the principle that humanity is interconnected. The library quickly became my favourite place for immersive study and reflection.
Since graduating I have been...
I currently serve as a Public Health Officer with the World Health Organization (WHO), supporting emergency preparedness and response. This has included coordination of flood and cholera (oral cholera vaccination campaigns), and capacity development for frontline health workers. I also contribute to donor proposal development and reporting.
Previously, I worked with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) as Project Coordinator, providing technical leadership for the Zero-Dose Children / Reaching Every Child in Humanitarian Settings (REACH) vaccination project funded by Gavi, while coordinating a consortium of international and national partners.
Prior to that, I supported UNICEF South Sudan as a Health Consultant, contributing to the COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health Systems Preparedness Project, including the successful implementation of a COVID-19 vaccination campaign.
Soon after completing my studies, I served as Health Project Manager with Medair in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where I led emergency response teams and supported integrated primary healthcare services in Ituri Province, contributing to responses to outbreaks including Ebola, plague, and measles.
Through these roles, I have built strong leadership, coordination, analytical, and programme management skills, while remaining grounded in principles of accountability, equity, and humanitarian ethics
Extra information
My experience at LSHTM continues to shape my professional values, leadership approach, and vision for public health. It strengthened my resolve to champion locally led health solutions, promote resilience in fragile settings, and contribute to a future where no community is left behind due to geography, conflict, or circumstance. I encourage prospective students to embrace curiosity, pursue excellence, build networks, and carry forward the global mandate for better health for all.
