Okoli Chinedu
Student | Full-time | NigeriaMSc One Health: Ecosystems, Humans and Animals
Educational/professional background
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where my undergraduate research focused on public health and zoonotic diseases. This built my interest in public health. I have also led and participated in several community-based rabies awareness programmes aimed at improving knowledge of prevention and vaccination within local communities in Nigeria.
Research interests or career goals
My research interests lie in antimicrobial resistance, epidemiological surveillance, and health systems strengthening, particularly within the context of low-resource settings. I am passionate about developing sustainable interventions that integrate animal, human, and environmental health perspectives to prevent disease outbreaks and promote community resilience. My long-term goal is to contribute to national and international health initiatives focused on interdisciplinary health issues and global health security.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I chose LSHTM for its global reputation in interdisciplinary public health training and its strong emphasis on real-world impact. I believe LSHTM’s MSc One Health programme provides the ideal platform to deepen my understanding of cross-sectoral health issues and to strengthen my ability to contribute to One Health initiatives, advocacy and practice across Africa and beyond.
