Educational/professional background
Hi, I'm Munima! I'm in my final year of the MSc Infectious Diseases by Distance Learning. I studied Human Biology and Microbiology at the University of Toronto, and since then I've built experience in both patient care and science writing. Balancing work and postgraduate study has shown me just how flexible and rewarding this program can be.
Research interests or career goals
I'm curious about how people experience and understand infectious diseases - from the way communities think about vaccines, to the barriers that keep people from accessing care. I'm also drawn to big-picture issues like vaccine confidence and equitable access, where science, policy, and everyday life all intersect. My long-term goal is to keep bridging research with practice, both in Canada and abroad.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I chose LSHTM because of its reputation in infectious diseases and because distance learning made it possible to keep studying while working in Toronto. The programme has connected me with an international network of students and given me a global perspective I wouldn't have gained anywhere else.
If you're based in Canada (or anywhere else!) and are curious about studying with LSHTM, I'd be happy to share my experiences and answer any questions about balancing life, work, and distance learning.
