Educational/professional background
My background combines experience as a Medical Doctor who has practiced in diverse primary and secondary care settings in Sudan and Saudi Arabia with current study in the intensive MSc Public Health for Global Practice program at LSHTM.
Research interests or career goals
My primary interest lies in Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) research and practice in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). I aim to bridge the gap between clinical practice and population-level intervention. My goal is to conduct implementation research that tests and validates cost-effective and scalable NCD prevention and control programs for fragile health systems.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I chose the MSc Public Health for Global Practice because its structure directly addresses the complexities I've observed in global health. The program’s unique blend of rigorous Epidemiology, Health Economics, and Policy analysis is essential for effective global practice. LSHTM's specific strength in NCD Epidemiology in LMICs is a perfect fit for my research focus. I require this advanced training to gain the economic and systems expertise necessary to design and evaluate viable, funded public health interventions, ensuring I can move from a clinical understanding to a global policy mindset.
Extra information
I can discuss transitioning from clinical practice to public health. I can also share practical tips on adjusting to life in London as a student, clarify how the MSc Public Health for Global Practice is unique, and provide a clear breakdown of the intensive term-by-term structure of the MSc PH for Global Practice program.
