Maddie Ong
Student | Full-time | United States of AmericaMSc Public Health
Educational/professional background
Hi! My name is Maddie, and I am from Seattle, Washington, in the U.S. I recently finished my undergraduate degree in Public Health-Global Health at the University of Washington. During my undergraduate, I worked as a nurse assistant at a hospital and led a student organization that focused on diversifying and decolonizing public health and HIV/AIDS research.
Research interests or career goals
My research interests include advancing global health equity through HIV/AIDS prevention, anti-racism, and decolonial approaches that emphasize community knowledge and leadership. I hope to bridge clinical care and public health to promote sustainable, culturally grounded, and equitable health outcomes within marginalized communities. After my MSc, I want to conduct community-based participatory research supporting these goals.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I chose LSHTM because I wanted to learn from and collaborate with an internationally diverse student body!
