Educational/professional background

I am studying at LSHTM following employment as a gut microbiota research microbiologist in the biotechnology industry.  

Research interests or career goals

I am passionate about infectious diseases especially relating to antimicrobial resistance and the application of a One Health lens to controlling bacterial diseases. 

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

I chose LSHTM due to its truly international outlook and interdisciplinary approach to research. I love that this MSc Control of Infectious Diseases also allows me to study aspects of infectious diseases outside of the lab, to develop a holistic understanding of disease from socioeconomic and epidemiological perspectives as well as biological. This is a big change from my time in industry as a bench scientist, and returning to academia at LSHTM has been hugely exciting and opened my eyes to many new possibilities.
